Consuelo Carmona, MD

Dr. Carmona is a transplant from the Show Me State of Missouri and has been with the practice since 1988. She loves taking care of women especially when she has the honor of being involved with the birth of their babies. She has already delivered her first generation of babies. Her time away from work is spent with her husband Wallace, daughter Malia, son Aidan, the 3 family dogs Avalon, Knight, and Molly and her 2 Amazon parrots Mo and Flash.

Erika Solis-Gilmore, MD

Westside Office

Dr. Solis-Gilmore is a proud native of NM. She was born in Las Cruces and was raised in the small town of Mesquite, NM. She attended UNM and after completing her undergraduate degree, she taught high school biology for two years at the same high school she attended and graduated from. She returned to Albuquerque for medical school and completed her residency at the University of New Mexico as well. During medical school she and her husband, Brian, welcomed their first son Tyler. They welcomed their second son Elijah in March of 2011. She loves spending time with her friends, younger brothers, and the rest of her family. In her free time she enjoys traveling, dancing, singing karaoke, and keeping up with her very active boys.

James Wurzel, MD

Dr. Wurzel is married with four children: Daughter Gabriella is a finishing up at UNM, special needs son Sebastian is 7, son Julius is 6 and daughter Katerina is 3. He enjoys reading mysteries, good food and wine, shooting pool, travel--but his kids take up most of his time and many former hobbies have fallen by the wayside. He enjoys working with students and Resident Physicians from UNM and is active in training other surgeons on modern surgical procedures.

Special Interests: A fluent Spanish speaker, Dr. Wurzel specializes in minimally invasive surgical solutions for women who need surgery--modern surgeries offer decreased bleeding, decreased pain, shorter recovery time and faster return to work. He is excited about several new treatment options available to WSNM patients: robotic and laparoscopic surgery for a wide variety of gyn problems including pain/ endometriosis/ fibroids/ masses or cysts of the female organs, urinary incontinence and bulging or falling of the female organs (prolapse); there are also some new and very gentle procedures for permanent birth control, to lower ovarian cancer risks, and to control heavy periods; he notes that many patients who have been told by other doctors that they need a traditional open incision surgery are actually good candidates for modern, gentle and less invasive surgeries--come see him to talk about your options or to get a second opinion.

Jeanine Valdez, MD

Dr. Jeanine Valdez was raised in Isleta Pueblo, New Mexico and enjoys working with New Mexico’s diverse female population. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for undergraduate studies and returned to Albuquerque for medical school and obstetrics/gynecology residency training at the University of New Mexico.

Kristina Chongsiriwatana, MD

Dr. Chongsiriwatana was born and raised in Albuquerque and attended Amherst College in Massachusetts. She missed New Mexico during her four years back East, so returned to Albuquerque for medical school and doesn't plan on moving away again. She likes to travel, knit and crochet in her free time. Many of her patients call her Dr. Chong, which some women find easier to pronounce than her seven syllable last name.

Mary Cunnane, MD

Mary Cunnane, MD, FACOG received her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Rush Medical College, Chicago, in 1980. Obstetrics and Gynecology training was done at University of Rochester for two years. She interrupted her training to work on the Navajo Indian Reservation doing general medicine and then completed Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of New Mexico in 1986. She returned to Navajo IHS for 2 years practicing full OB-GYN on the western reservation before settling in Albuquerque in 1988. Dr.Cunnane was a partner in Women’s Specialists of NM for 15 years. Due to a job opportunity for her husband, Dr. Cunnane moved to Rochester, NY where she has practiced Gynecology since 2005. In New York, she assisted the practice in developing their ultrasound unit with a First Trimester screening program. Dr. Cunnane sees women of all ages but has a special interest in menopause. She is a Certified Menopause Practitioner by the North American Menopause Society and a Certified Clinical Densitometrist by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. Dr. Cunnane and her husband, Martin Hickey MD, are very happy to be living in New Mexico once again.

Mary Mark, MD

Westside Office & Downtown Office

Dr. Mark grew up in New Mexico and has been with WSNM since 1984. After having the privilege of performing gynecologic surgeries and delivering thousands of babies over the course of many years, she has scaled back her practice and now provides office-based gynecology services out of the Riverside Plaza Office on Albuquerque’s Westside two days per week and one day per week at the "Downtown Office" by Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Mark served as the President of WSNM from 1997- 2007. She is the proud mother of three children: Kara, Michael and John.

Rebecca Okun, MD

Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Okun joined WSNM in 1991 after completing a four year Federal Government pay back at the Gallup Indian Center. She has a very busy practice in the Jefferson Lane office and also serves as the Clinical Director of the WSNM Management Team. She has two grown daughters, she is an accomplished singer, and has performed with Musical Theatre Southwest and Opera Southwest.

Seddah Moya, MD

Dr. Moya was born in Canada, but grew up in Santa Fe and considers herself a native New Mexican. She graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 2005 and completed her residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida in 2009. After three years as an OB/GYN in Las Cruces, Dr. Moya is thrilled to return to Albuquerque and join Women's Specialists of New Mexico. Dr. Moya appreciates all aspects of OB/GYN, from a young woman's first visit to delivering a baby to caring for post-menopausal issues. She and her husband have two children and enjoy experiencing new cultures and cuisines.

Stephanie Philippides, MD

Dr. Philippides was born and raised in New Mexico. She initially began her training in Family Practice but after realizing she enjoyed taking care of women she decided to specialize in OB/Gyn. She completed her residency at the University of New Mexico and has decided to stay and practice medicine locally in the place that she calls home. She and her husband welcomed a baby girl in 2011 and are enjoying every moment of being new parents.

Steven Gough, MD

Dr. Gough enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology. One of his favorite parts of his job is talking to his patients and really getting to know them. He believes it is important to discuss all treatment options so a woman can make an informed decision. Dr. Gough understands the importance of quick recovery and offers in-office procedures and robotic surgery.
