Educational Workshops - Winter and Spring 2008

January 21 – What’s New for Osteoporosis? E. Michael Lewiecki, MD, FACP, FACE. Osteoporosis is a preventable and treatable disease, not a normal part of aging. We will discuss the basics in maintaining good bone health, the evaluation of osteoporosis, and how it is treated in 2008. Bring your friends and your questions with you.

February 18 – Treating Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Naturally – Emil Faithe, Holistic Wellness Practitioner, Doctor of Pharmacy. Learn how to use simple diet and lifestyle modifications, emotional clearing techniques and natural medicines to improve your energy, mood and vitality and to balance your immune and digestive systems. You can do it!

March 17 – Allergies and Environment – Are They Related? – Louise Swartswalter, ND, CBT. Your home environment may be adversely affecting you. Products you use on yourself and in your home can cause various physical and mental problems. Our goal is to avoid allergic reactions so that you can think more clearly, have more energy and stay healthy.

April 21 – Estrogen Dominance – A Vital Key to Health and Wellness. – Dr. Vernon Redd, Chiropractor, Board Certified Neurologist, Clinical Nutritionist. Many women experience anxiety, irritability, depression, mood swings, headaches (including migraine) foggy thinking, pain, decreased sex drive, sleep problems and weight gain that won’t be resolved even with dieting and exercise. Estrogen dominance may be the cause. We will explain what estrogen dominance is, why it may be missed by physicians and what you can do about it without taking medications.

May 19 – Are You at Risk? – Robert Haggerty, Executive Director of Cathedral Health Services. Simple preventive health screenings can lead to the early detection of many serious illnesses like heart disease or stroke. Much of the damage caused by these diseases can be prevented through early detection. Learn about the screenings currently available, the technology used and how to evaluate the quality of a screening program.

June 16 – Long Term Health Care Issues – Larry Lite, LTCP, LUTCF. We will explore the various myths such as “my children will take care of me” or “it can’t happen to me”. We will review a checklist of insurance options so you can make the best decisions for yourself as an individual . A copy of the “Shoppers Guide to Long Term Insurance” will be provided for every woman attending the meeting.
