- Jennifer grew up in the Midwest, but discovered a love of traveling and moved to CA for college, and to New York for her midwifery degree. She has always enjoyed working in women’s healthcare, beginning in education and program design, to becoming active in the political aspects, to now working clinically as a midwife for the last 9 years in a culturally diverse area. Jennifer has lived in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York and Chicago and feels blessed to begin the next chapter here in the southwest, and she wonders why it took her so long to discover this beautiful part of the country!

- Originally from Boston, Lisa always wanted to live in the Southwest. After graduating from Midwifery School in Philadelphia, she joined Women's Specialists in 1998, and has loved it here ever since! The high desert is the perfect place for her to enjoy mountain biking, and hiking with her daughter and partner. Having traveled through much of Latin America, Lisa is fluent in Spanish and speaks conversational Portuguese.

Maren Hubbard, CNM

- Originally from Philadelphia, Maren moved to the Midwest for her midwifery training at Ohio State University. Upon completion of her degree, she then settled in Albuquerque with her husband and dog because all three love hiking and backpacking (and chile, of course). Maren's main interests outside of work include yoga, traveling, reading, and almost all outdoor activities.

One of Maren's favorite aspects of midwifery care is the opportunity to develop ongoing relationships with the women she serves throughout their adolescence, reproductive years, and menopause. By getting to know each patient as the woman experiences her unique development, Maren helps educate women and supports their individual healthcare decisions. She is especially excited by working with women during their pregnancies, as well as GYN care of teens and young women.

- Darlaine was born in New York. and grew up in Rio Rancho. She really enjoys both cooking and eating, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. Her husband and two young kids are the center of her world. They are very close and have a ton of fun together.

Rebecca Leeman, CNM

- Beginning her studies in cultural anthropology and health, Rebecca came to nursing and then midwifery with the goal of incorporating service to underserved areas both within and beyond the border. After midwifery school, she lived and worked in the Zuni-Navajo area for six years. Rebecca came to WSNM in 1999. With her husband she has three boys, Chai, Ari, and Eden, the youngest born in 2002. When at play, Rebecca might be found walking the North Valley trails, digging in the garden, or playing a variety of folk instruments.

Rebecca enjoys a diverse practice of caring for women in the many stages of life with both preventing pregnancy and with prenatal care, attending childbirth, and ushering the changes of life in women. In the area of pregnancy and childbirth, she has a special interest in movement and positioning. In general women's health, she upholds the idea that every person has a different sense of well-being and that a health practitioner is a partner in guiding a person toward that state. The best of women's health care is helping women to know their bodies better and to be at ease in their lives.

- Deb is a native Floridian who grew up near the beach involved in many water sports. She then left Florida to hike the Appalachian Trail and fell in love with mountain living, working as a nurse and a whitewater raft guide. Eventually she left the mountains of North Carolina to move to New Mexico in 1996 to attend the UNM Midwifery program. She has worked here in New Mexico as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and at WSNM since 1999 as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Deb and her husband have two beautiful toddlers-a boy and a girl and love spending time with them. Her passions are skiing, kayaking, reading and catching babies! It is a blessing to help women grow their families and care for them throughout their lives.

- Andrea was born in Guatemala, Central America. She and her family moved to the United States when she was a young girl and they found their way to New Mexico when she was in grade school. She is fluent in Spanish and loves serving the Spanish speaking community. Andrea met her husband of 5 years at the University of New Mexico. They have two beautiful daughters and hope that their family continues to grow. They love to run, hike, bike, and dance in their spare time!!

- Donna has been in New Mexico for over 20 years. Prior to joining WSNM, she attended homebirths in Albuquerque for about 10 years. She is the single mom of teenage daughter who recently left for college in Washington State. In her free time, Donna likes to ski, hike, camp, ride horses and other outdoor activities. Among her favorite vacation spots are the beaches of Mexico, and while she’s there she loves to practice yoga on the beach.

- Katrina was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After college she served in the Peace Corps in South America, where she became fluent in Spanish. She has a wide variety of experiences working in women’s health including working with a domestic violence shelter, providing care in a rural hospital in West Africa and providing Reiki sessions to women with cancer. Katrina is excited to be in Albuquerque with her husband Peter who was a graduate student at UNM and who introduced her to the beauty of New Mexico. Together they love to travel, hike, garden, and cook. Katrina also has a serious addiction to knitting.

- Serving childbearing women at home, in freestanding birth centers, and in hospital settings, Ginger brings a diversity of experience to Women's Specialists. After having lived and worked as a midwife in California and New York, she moved to New Mexico in 2005 and joined Women's Specialists in 2006. She considers it an honor to serve and be with women throughout their lifetime.

- Michelle was raised in Albuquerque's North Valley. She enjoys providing care to the women of her community and occasionally even to high school classmates. Michelle loves having the opportunity to watch her community grow and to care for their families. She has a supportive husband and understanding son, and they like watching sports and participating when they can. Michelle loves being active because she also loves to eat green chile cheese fries!!

- Kim grew up in Pasadena, Calif., and lived in Switzerland before settling with her family in Albuquerque in 1990. She worked as an R.N. in women's health for 15 years before becoming a midwife, and feels honored to be part of the lives of the women she treats. Kim has two teenage sons and loves to travel, ski, golf and do any outdoor activity.
